Eager and ready to face the challenge of producing the National Convention for AROC membership, the Connecticut and New York Chapters felt that a joint effort would get the job done. In fact, in addition to forming a co-operative among the two clubs, we also reached out to numerous volunteers from our neighbors to the north, namely Alfa Owners of New England.

The resulting collaborative effort was christened, “Alfamiglia Nordest 2015”. The title is symbolic on many levels in that it relates to Alfa Romeo as being an extended part of our families as well as our geographic location, namely the northeast.

We have chosen the beautifully appointed
Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island, to be the host hotel. It is conveniently located just off Interstate 95 (the main North South thoroughfare in this area), within ten minutes of the Providence Airport and less than 1 hour from the recently reconstituted Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (which will host the track events for the convention).

The convention is scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, 2015, through Sunday, June 28, 2015, but the events actually begin on the morning of Sunday, June 21st in Saratoga Springs, New York, with the convention pre-tour. The
Tour of New England (as it has been named) promises to be unique as it traverses through seven states in four days.

The registration desk will open on Wednesday, June 24th, the first day of Alfamiglia Nordest 2015, and the convention kicks off with the Board of Directors Meeting. In addition, the vendors will set up their wares, the art show competition starts, racers tend to technical inspections and rallyers attend “rally school”. Wednesday, 6/24/15, is also the date for the convention “
Welcome Party” in the hotel’s Atrium Room.

Thursday, 6/25/15, begins with
Time Trials at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park as well as Parade Laps (which promise to be exciting). The TSD Rally is also on the agenda, as well as a Bus Tour of Boston and an exciting dinner event planned for the Federal Hill area (Providence’s Little Italy). This promises to be a night to remember as Federal Hill is known for its vast array of fine restaurants and charming small town aesthetics.

Friday, 6/26/15, continues the track events with the
Autocross at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. In addition, a Gimmick Rally and Newport Bus Tour are scheduled. For the foodies, a sumptuous New England Style Clambake is scheduled for Friday evening, while the Concorso participants will be able to wash and wax their prize Alfas at the hotel. All the while, the vendors will be displaying their goods and the Swap Meet will be in full swing, all in close proximity to the Clambake and the Car Washing stations.

Saturday, 6/27/15, continues the momentum with a
Concorso D’Eleganza that promises to have the finest collection of Alfa Romeos ever at any National Convention. The two tiered event will consist of museum quality Alfa Romeos competing for the prized Certificato D’Oro and beautifully maintained and driven Alfas competing in the Shine and Show category. The inclusive nature of the Concorso promises to have all Alfisti bringing out their prized possessions. The afternoon continues with Technical Sessions in close physical proximity to our vendors and the registration area. This amazing day culminates with a lavish Banquet that will up the ante for all banquets to follow. We will also have the pleasure of being entertained by TV personality and Italian car aficionado, Mr. Donald Osborne, co-host of Velocity Channel’s “What’s My Car Worth?” and his witty story telling.

Sunday, 6/28/15, brings the convention to a close with the
Awards Brunch, at which time the raffle for the Alfa Romeo bicycle, donated by John and Cornelia Catera of NYAROC, will be held. In addition, the convention Town Hall Meeting will be held.

While the events may look familiar, the setting is anything but typical. From the winding roads of our Tour of New England, to the fantastic Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park, to the comfortable and expansive Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, to the historic Bus Tours and endless Self Guided Tour possibilities, to the incredibly well planned Rallys and on to the largest and grandest Concorso yet to be staged at any National Convention, Alfamiglia Nordest 2015 promises to be an event to behold.

We eagerly look forward to hosting the convention for the national membership and feel confident that you will remember this convention for years to come. Registration information and instructions are available
