AROC National Board of Directors Meeting
Date: Wednesday, June 24
Location: Crowne Plaza Hotel Tiverton Room
Entry cost: Free, but please register for the event
The Board meeting and the Town Hall meeting are the events that open and close the annual national convention. Traditionally scheduled as the first activity of the convention, the Board of Directors meeting is open to all AROC members. This is the business meeting that recaps the past 12 months and sets the tone for the coming 12 months. Club’s officers and committee chairs present reports with metrics covering their areas of responsibility, such as finances, membership, chapters, insurance, sales, etc. This is also the time when chapters wishing to host future conventions present their plans and formal bids. Towards the end of the meeting newly elected directors are seated and the new Board elects the executive officers for the coming year.
The agenda is published in the Alfa Owner in advance and the meeting is scheduled from 9 AM until 2 PM. It is not the boring meeting that many may think, and all convention attendees are welcome and encouraged to attend. The door is purposely left open and it is absolutely OK to walk in at any time and observe the proceedings for a while or attend the meeting in its entirety. This is a great way to learn about what it takes to keep the club running and the many responsibilities that fall upon the Board. The meeting is set-up with microphones and recording equipment, as the entire session is taped.
At the end of the convention, scheduled for the second half of the Awards Brunch, the Board will hold its annual Town Hall meeting. This is a chance to address Board members directly, with no topic off-limits. The interaction typically ranges from short answers about specific subjects to more in-depth discussions on strategic themes. The AROC Board of Directors hopes that you will attend both of these sessions and take a moment to talk about your club.
